Field Trips
Field trips are available to school groups of 15 or more beginning at 10 am, Tuesday through Friday. More than 40,000 people visited our center last year so be sure to schedule your visit now. Reservations and pre-payment are required. | Programs
Study real fossils and artifacts. Learn about the geologic history of the Earth, and the rock cycle. Develop your understanding of water and its importance in our region. |
Discovery Lab at the Museum - (not available in summer months)
This new Museum Educator-led program gives your students a hands-on lab experience that focuses on Earth Science concepts and complements your self-guided visit to our exhibit galleries. Spend 45 minutes in our teaching lab investigating fossils, rock types, and/or rock weathering. Each Lab session is limited to no more than 20 students with adequate teacher/chaperone coverage. If your class must be split into two or more groups for the Discovery Lab, make sure you have enough teachers/chaperones for each group. Adults are required to help in the lab class. No children, other than students, are allowed in the lab due to safety reasons. The Lab fee includes a self-guided visit to exhibit galleries.

Partnerships: Thanks to HUSD and grants from Verizon, The Bank of Hemet, and private donations, we are developing educational programs that promote the STEM disciplines and are aligned to National Science Education and California Educational Standards. Schools from all over Southern California have access to educational materials related to the nearly 1,000,000 fossils and artifacts located at the Western Center.
